House of the Dragon had its premiere last Sunday, and over the next 3 days, it garnered an audience of 21.5 million. Despite this massive number, it still falls short of its last season’s numbers.
The second season of House of the Dragon had more viewers than its third season, beating it with 23.4 million viewers. This decrease is to be expected from the third season of a show, as it affected the second season as well.
Season 2 of House of the Dragon premiered to 7.8 million viewers on the first day, down from season one’s 10 million viewers on its first day. The first season is now averaging around 92 million lifetime viewers.
Despite the fewer viewers, the season still had a good turnout for a season premiere. According to WBD, weekly viewership of season 2 tripled when season 3 was released, highlighting the trend of many viewers re-watching previous seasons to remind themselves of previous events in the show.
The third season will release new episodes every Sunday night at 9 p.m. ET/PT until its eighth and final episode on August 9th. It is streaming on HBO Max.
