ABC’s High Potential returned for its second season with powerful premiere that drew major viewership. According to Deadline, the Season Two debut amassed 12 million viewers across ABC, Hulu, Disney+, and additional platforms during its first week. That total nearly tripled its same-day audience and marked 28% jump from last year’s Season One premiere.
Nielsen data shows the episode’s live broadcast delivered 4.34 million viewers, but numbers surged once delayed and streaming audiences were included. Deadline also reported that this achievement represents ABC’s largest drama season premiere since Grey’s Anatomy’s crossover event in November 2020.
The series follows Morgan, played by Kaitlin Olson (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Hacks), a gifted but unconventional single mother whose crime-solving skills often clash with police procedure. Season Two finds Morgan managing her parenting responsibilities while tackling dangerous investigations with Detective Karadec, played by Daniel Sunjata (Rescue Me, Manifest). New episodes promise higher stakes, sharper humor, and more ambitious cases.
“This show is about heart as much as it is about crime-solving,” Olson told Deadline. “The fans who tuned in last year embraced that balance, and we’re thrilled to keep delivering stories that surprise and connect.”
Returning cast members include Javicia Leslie (Batwoman, God Friended Me), Deniz Akdeniz (Once Upon a Time, The Flight Attendant), Amirah J (Shameless, All American), and Matthew Lamb (The Resident, Station 19). As Deadline noted, the ensemble continues to anchor the show with energy, warmth, and comedic edge.
Executive producer Drew Goddard (The Martian, The Cabin in the Woods) remains at the helm, with ABC Signature producing. The creative team credits the show’s success to blending the structure of network dramas with the flexibility of streaming storytelling.
New episodes of High Potential air Tuesdays on ABC, with next-day streaming available on Hulu and Disney+.
