Today we woke up to the news of the Golden Globes nominations and surprisingly there were snubs. The biggest being in Television. While many fans were hoping for their favorites to get nominated such as the rebooted version of the Gilmore Girls saga or their favorite first-time nominees getting their recognition like up and coming actor Milo Ventimiglia. There were a lot of disappoint.
Nominations for the 74th annual Golden Globe Awards were announced on Monday, December 12th and – as usual some of the trendiest shows on television were heartbreakingly omitted. According to US Weekly, Shows like The Americans, Empire or Stranger Things weren’t recognized properly. Although in some categories like supporting, two young actresses from the show This is Us were indeed nominated. They were singer/actress, Mandy Moore and her television daughter, Chrissy Metz for This is Us. Altogether, the show This is Us received three nominations for the two young actresses and best series.
Also in US Weekly, even the most shocking death of the character Jon Snow on Games of Thrones could not cement a nomination for Kit Harrington. After all the hype and protest from fans. The show’s fans have been taken aback as well as Kit Harrington who plays Jon. The good news is that the show Games of Thrones was nominated for best drama for the drama category.
Happily, there so many other television shows that swam untouched in their own pools of success including shows like as mentioned above, Games of Thrones being nominated in the drama category and actress Lena Headey being nominated for her work on the show . The Americans got snubbed but the actors Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell that played a couple on the show were given a nod.
Shows on Amazon proved successful, the show Mozart In The Jungle was nominated for best comedy and best actor in a comedy nomination given to Gael Garcia Bernal. Also, getting recognized in the comedy category is the new FX show, Atlanta being nominated as well.
There is no doubt that this year will serve as the year that there were the biggest snubs in both television and movies and even if the favorite fan shows were nominated, the show will go on. The Golden Globes will be taken place on January 8, 2017.
