Deadline has reported that HBO has begun searching for the next set of luxury vacationers, and early reports indicate Helen Bonham Carter (Fight Club, The King’s Speech) may be booked for a stay at The White Lotus. The terms of the deal are yet to be made public, but sources have stated that HBO and Carter are discussing it exclusively.
According to Deadline, if terms are set, the Oscar-nominated Carter would be the first member of the cast to pack their bags for France. Casey Bloys confirmed last month that casting had begun for the dark comedy anthology. Similar to previous seasons, Mike White has kept the plot under wraps, and only the location has been revealed. The next season will take place in the south of France and Paris. This will mark a return to the Mediterranean for the series, which filmed its second season on the Italian island of Sicily, mainly at San Domenico Palace in Taormina. While the plot is being kept under lock and key, the location often gives a glimpse into the season’s theme.
Deadline reports that the exact hotel locations have yet to be finalized, but previous seasons have largely been shot at Four Seasons hotels. If they choose to continue the partnership, the Grand Hotel Du Cap Ferat and The Paris Hotel George V would be possible options. HBO does not have a marketing deal with Four Seasons as of this moment.
According to Deadline, casting for the series has always been impeccable, garnering combination of established talent and rising young actors. Last season starred Walton Goggins (Fallout, Vice Principals), Sam Nivola, Michelle Monaghan (True Detective, Pixels), Carrie Coon (The Leftovers, The Gilded Age), Sam Rockwell (Vice, Seven Psychopaths), Natasha Rothwell (The Characters, Insecure), Jason Isaacs (The Patriot, Mass), Parker Posey (Scream 3, Dazed And Confused), Aimee Lou Wood (Sex Education, Living) , and Patrick Schwarzenegger (Gen V, Midnight Sun). This cast collected an astonishing eight Emmy nominations.
Deadline has reported that if Carter does eventually find herself on holiday at The White Lotus, it will be another high-profile role for the actor after her tenure as Princess Margaret on The Crown. She earned two Emmy nominations for her work on The Crown.
