The popularity of The Gilded Age’s third season only continues to move upward. According to Deadline, Julian Fellowes’ (Downton Abbey, The English Game) Emmy nominated HBO drama has maintained its impressive viewership with the sixth episode hitting another peak. The episode, in only its first three days of being available, amassed a massive 4.5 million U.S. cross-platform viewers.
Deadline writes that this would be the third consecutive week of viewership records for The Gilded Age. It is now in the same ratings league as some of HBO’s biggest hits, such as The White Lotus and The Last Of Us.
The Gilded Age is a historical drama set in New York during the Gilded Age in the late 19th century, which saw economic prosperity and materialistic excess.
The third season of the show’s run has been nothing short of impressive, with viewership only increasing with each episode. Deadline writes that the season started with 2.7 million three-day multi-platform viewers for the third season premiere. After, it climbed steadily to 3.8 million for the fourth episode, 4 million for the fifth, and now 4.5 million for the sixth episode. With only two episodes of the season left, the growth will likely be maintained, as Deadline notes that the second season of the show ended with what was, at the time, a series high of 3.2M cross-platform viewers for the first three days. Because of the viewership gains for the third season in addition to the sixth episode’s new peak, the third season is now pacing 25% ahead of the second season.
The promo for the seventh episode reveals that it will surround the grief of Oscar losing the one he loves in a carriage accident. Marian will also seemingly end her engagement to Larry, and the episode will also bring back popular character Ward McAllister, played by Nathan Lane (The Lion King, Only Murders in the Building).
The Gilded Age has been renewed for a fourth season, according to Deadline.
