HBO’s ‘Task’ Season Two Adds New FBI Team Members Alongside Mahershala Ali

HBO crime drama Task has officially added several new cast members for its upcoming second season. According to Screen Rant, Harry Melling (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Pillion), Adam Nagaitis (The Terror, The Commuter, The Man with the Iron Heart), and Aminah Nieves (A House of Dynamite, 1923, Blueberry) have joined the HBO crime thriller as members of a brand-new FBI task force led by Mark Ruffalo (The Avengers, 13 Going on 30, Now You See Me).

Premiering in 2025, Task stars Ruffalo as FBI agent Tom Brandis, who leads a Philadelphia-based task force investigating violent criminal operations throughout the city. HBO renewed the series for a second season in November 2025, with season two expected to focus on an entirely new operation involving a different group of agents.

The newly announced cast additions will reportedly join previously confirmed cast member Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Jurassic World: Rebirth, Green Book) in the upcoming season. Ali is set to portray Eddie Barnes, a respected DEA agent whose team reportedly clashes with Brandis’ new task force during the investigation.

Character details for the new cast members were also revealed. Melling will portray Brennan Boylan, described as a volatile DEA agent, while Nagaitis will play Luke Clemmons, a loyal and composed DEA operative. Nieves will portray Nataly Zamora, a determined FBI agent and young mother dedicated to protecting her community.

Season one of Task followed Brandis as he investigated a violent robbery crew led by Robbie Prendergrast, portrayed by Tom Pelphrey (Ozark, Mank, Iron Fist). The first season also starred Emilia Jones (CODA, Brimstone, Youth), Raúl Castillo (We the Animals, Smile 2, Looking), Owen Teague (It, Black Mirror, Bloodline), Martha Plimpton (The Goonies, Beautiful Girls, Running on Empty), and Phoebe Fox (One Day, Eye in the Sky, The Great).

The series was created by Brad Ingelsby (Run All Night, The Way Back, The Lost Bus), who returned to HBO following the success of Mare of Easttown. Since premiering, Task has become one of HBO’s most talked-about recent crime dramas and has earned recognition throughout awards season, including Critics Choice Award nominations and a Golden Globe nomination for Ruffalo’s performance.
