HBO’s New Comedy Series ‘It’s Florida, Man.’ Set To Debut October 18

As mentioned by their press release, HBO is gearing up to launch its latest late-night comedy series, It’s Florida, Man., with the debut episode premiering on Friday, October 18, from 11:00 to 11:30 p.m. ET/PT. The six-episode season will roll out weekly, with each episode available to stream on Max following the live broadcast.

According to HBO’s press release, the series is produced by Rough House Pictures—known for HBO hits like Eastbound & Down and The Righteous Gemstones—along with Range Studios; the show is a playful yet irreverent exploration of the quirky and outrageous headlines that have emerged from Florida over the years. As it draws inspiration from viral stories and bizarre news reports, the series taps into the unique culture of the Sunshine State through a mix of interviews and comedic reenactments.

As mentioned by the press release, at the heart of It’s Florida, Man are the tales told by everyday Floridians, combined with performances by a rotating cast of well-known actors and comedians. Some of the notable stars making appearances include Anna Faris (Scary Movie, The House Bunny, Mom), Jake Johnson (New Girl, Let’s Be Cops, The Mummy), Randall Park (Fresh Off The Boat, The Interview, Blockbuster), Juliette Lewis (Yellowjackets, From Dusk Till Dawn), Sam Richardson (The After Party, Ted Lasso, Veep) and Ego Nwodim (Spin Me Round, Players, Mr.Throwback). Their playful recreations of Florida’s infamous headlines bring to life a variety of strange and humorous stories.

Also discussed in the press release, more than two dozen guest actors are set to appear throughout the season, adding to each episode’s unpredictable and entertaining nature. Special appearances include performances by Jon Gries (Napoleon Dynamite, Real Genius, Taken Two), Simon Rex (Red Rocket, Scary Movie 3, The Sweet East) and more.

The series was created and executive produced by Mark Herwick (Code 9, Ready For The Weekend Movie, Mystery: America) for Range Studios and Jeff Tomsic (Tag, Spy Guys), who also serves as the director. Danny McBride, Brandon James of Rough House Pictures and Bryan Storkel (The Pez Outlaw, Holy Rollers, Untold: Hall Of Shame) round out the creative team as additional executive producers. With its unique blend of comedy, heart and Floridian eccentricity, It’s Florida, Man. aims to celebrate the state’s strange charm while offering audiences a fresh and hilarious take on its viral culture.
