As noted by Comicbook, the Harry Potter series has started casting for the roles, and the production is expected to start around 2025. The news of 10 seasons is astonishing and predictable. While the show hasn’t begun filming yet, the shock is real for fans who realize it is a year or two away from its premiere. Additionally, since it is a new series on HBO, the show is subject to change.

However, Harry Potter is a fan-favorite and beloved fantasy series and is still popular for over two decades after its initial release in 1997. Additionally, the franchise had seven books in its series and eight movies. It’s no surprise that the last and more complex book had to be divided into two parts. Comicbook states that it would make sense for the book series to lead to a decade-long TV series. As stated previously by mxdwn, the series is looking to cast 9-11-year-olds to play the golden trio: Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley. Therefore, the 10-season show allows the selected actors to develop both on the show and in real life.

Besides the 10 seasons and debut timing, there is no other news by HBO and Max per Comicbook. The series was first announced in 2023, and how the show will be marked with the HBO label instead of Max was released earlier this year. Although they are not confirmed as part of the cast, HBO is considering Mark Rylance (The BFG, Ready Player One) for the role of Dumbledore and Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You, Genie) as Severus Snape.
