After almost a year and some change’s worth of anticipation, HBO is heading towards its big-daddy finale for the hit-series known as Game of Thrones. The now-iconic series is set to premiere in late April of this year for its 8th and final season, but the exact date has yet to have been made public. To no surprise, HBO continues to veil its heady and unpredictable series with top-level security and secrecy. With less than 4 months to go, the network has released few glimpses and bits of imagery to continue building and constructing an unfathomable amount of anticipation in what is only known-to-be the final season and one of the longest regarding episodic runtime.
Though not ready to end the suspense just yet, on Twitter HBO has unveiled the tantalizing announcement for the exact premiere date will be released to the public on Jan. 13 ahead of the premiere of another original hit-series True Detective Season 3. They did not hint at any new footage or the possibility of an actual trailer, but it remains to be something that is sure to spike curiosity and possibly juice-up the viewership for True Detective. The announcement reads as follows:
It’s a savvy move by HBO, but the pressure continues to build on a season that needs to be bigger, badder, and better than thought possible. This is high-stakes storytelling at its finest, and everyone is sure to be tuning in on opening night. Hopefully we’ll still be tuning in when we arrive upon the final episode in what is sure to be one of the most-talked-about TV series finales of all-time. Game of Thrones season 8 premieres April 2019, exclusively on HBO.
