HBO Max has announced a new upcoming limited series entitled The Tourist and members of its cast which includes Jamie Dornan (The Fall, Marie Antoinette), Danielle Macdonald (Lady Bird, Bird Box), Shalom Brune-Franklin (Doctor Doctor, Cursed), and Hugo Weaving (The Matrix, V for Vendetta), according to Deadline. The limited series will be within the thriller mystery genre and is set to consist of six episodes for its run. HBO Max will come aboard as producing the series alongside Two Brothers Pictures production company, which was responsible for producing Amazon Prime Video’s Fleabag.
The Tourist will follow the story of a British man who has found himself stuck within chase with him being depicted as the prey. Dornan will portray the unnamed lead character while Macdonald will play Constable Helen Chambers. Additionally, Weaving will star as an Australian inspector in Agent Lachlan Rogers and Brune-Franklin will portray the character Luci who is unwillingly placed within the game the Dornan is playing. The limited series will take place within the Australian outback and face the treacherous obstacle of a mysterious individual hunting Dornan’s character down.
The HBO Max original limited series will not be the first instance in which Dornan has had to portray a character stuck in the middle of a chase between foes. Dornan has previously starred as the serial killer Paul Spector, who poses a double life as a family man in Belfast, on the BBC original series The Fall.
Currently, HBO Max’s The Tourist does not possess a timeline for the series premiere nor its production schedule. The series hails from the minds of Harry and Jack Williams (Fleabag, Liar) who wrote the series.
