Could we BE more excited for this reunion special? This week, shooting began on the delayed Friends: The Reunion, according to Deadline. Now, it has been confirmed by the Friends Instagram account that filming on the episode has wrapped.
Shortly before the official wrap post appeared online, Matthew Perry (Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip), who plays Chandler Bing, posted a photo from the makeup chair Friday, April 9, stating the photo was taken “seconds before eating a makeup brush, not to mention reuniting with my Friends” (via Deadline). Almost immediately, the photo was removed from Perry’s account, but according to TMZ, some fans were able to screenshot the post before it disappeared. By Saturday night, the show’s official Instagram page confirmed that production on the episode was complete.

The Friends reunion special has been in the works for a little over a year, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, filming had to be delayed. According to Deadline, the entire cast of the original series, as well as certain crew members are returning to celebrate the group of New Yorkers who taught the world about giant coffee mugs, Unagi, and lobsters. Perry, Jennifer Aniston (The Morning Show), Courtney Cox (Ace Ventura: Pet Detective), Lisa Kudrow (Space Force), Matt LeBlanc (Episodes), and David Schwimmer (American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson) are each reprising their respective roles as Chandler, Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, and Ross.
In addition to the cast, Friends creators Kevin Bright (executive producer, Joey), Marta Kauffman (writer, Grace and Frankie), and David Crane (writer, Episodes) are returning to executive produce the special alongside the cast. Ben Winston (producer, Carpool Karaoke) is attached as the director for the reunion episode which has been filmed on the same soundstage – Stage 24 – where the sitcom was filmed, via Deadline.
