HBO is in development of a V for Vendetta TV show. According to Variety, V for Vendetta began as a comic, which was turned into a movie, and will now receive its very own series.
V for Vendetta‘s debut started as a comic book series written by Alan Moore (Watchmen, Batman: The Killing Joke) and illustrated by David Lloyd (Aliens, James Bond). According to Variety, the story takes place in a dystopian Britain where the country has been taken over by a group of individuals calling themselves the Norsefire party. Standing against them is an anarchist named V. V sports the iconic Guy Fawkes mask, and his main goal is to take down the government with the help of a young woman in the county’s secret police department named Evey Hammond.
If the series moves forward, it will join the ranks of HBO’s other live-action DC projects. Such projects include The Penguin with Colin Farrell (The Penguin, The Batman) and Cristin Milioti (How I Met Your Mother, Black Mirror).
HBO is also set to air another DC drama series called Lanterns with Kyle Chandler (Argo, Super 8) playing Hal Jordan, and Aaron Pierre (The Underground Railroad, Genius Malcom X) playing John Stewart. According to Variety, there hasn’t been any date for the series premiere; however, there is speculation that the show could premiere in early 2026.
V for Vendetta should be in good hands when it comes to HBO. HBO has also aired the show Watchmen, the critically acclaimed drama series which had served as a sequel to the original graphic novel under the same name.
According to Variety, Pete Jackson (Somewhere Boy, The Death Of Bunny Munro) is set to write the series, whereas James Gunn (Peacemaker, The Suicide Squad) and Peter Safran (Aquaman, Superman) will be in charge of executive production. We’ll have to wait for the first teaser when it comes to the series release.
