According to Warner Bros. Discovery, HBO has started the casting process for season three of Hacks. The series has casted Dan Bucatinsky (The Baker and the Beauty, Scandal), Tony Goldwyn (Oppenheimer, The Last Samurai), Christina Hendricks (Mad Men, Good Girls), Helen Hunt (As Good as It Gets, Mad About You), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future, The Addams Family) and George Wallace (Bob’s Burgers, Batman Forever) as guest stars.
According to Warner Bros. Discovery, the season three logline reads: “A year after parting, Deborah Vance (Jean Smart (Babylon, Garden State)) is riding high off the success of her standup special while Ava (Hannah Einbinder (How to Be Broke, North Hollywood)) pursues new opportunities back in Los Angeles.”
The returning cast is Rose Abdoo (Good Night, and Good Luck, My Best Friend’s Wedding) Paul W. Downs (Broad City, Rough Night), Einbinder, Carl Clemons-Hopkins (Candyman, Chicago P.D.), Mark Indelicato (Ugly Betty, White Bird in Blizzard), Lorenza Izzo (Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels), Christopher McDonald (Thelma & Louise, Happy Gilmore), Kaitlin Olson (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Heat), Smart and Megan Stalter (The Megan Stalter Show, Sometimes I Think About Dying).
The season is expected to debut in the spring.
Per mxdwn, “The announcement of season three came in June of 2022, shortly following the finale of season two. The first season of Hacks debuted in May of 2021, and season two followed in May of 2022. Hacks has obtained lots of praise from critics as season one was nominated for whopping 15 Emmys. The halt for season three is due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that ended last September and November, respectively.”
Hacks was created and is showrun by Lucia Aniello (Rough Night, Broad City), Downs and Jen Statsky (The Good Place, Parks and Recreation). The series is executive produced by Aniello and Downs from their production company, Paulilu Productions. Statsky produces through First Thought Productions and Michael Schur (The Office, Rutherford Falls) for Fremulon. For 3 Arts Entertainemnt, David Miner (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) produces and Morgan Sackett (Veep, The Tiny Chef Show) also produces. The series is created from Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
