The HBO/BBC drama series Industry has been renewed for second season, according to Deadline. The series was created by TV show rookies Mickey Down (Gregor, You, Me and the Apocalypse) and Konrad Kay. Its first season premiered on Nov. 9 and consisted of eight episodes. Both serve as executive producers along with production company Bad Wolf which produces for HBO and BBC.
According to Deadline, the show examines corporate culture at Pierpoint & Co., a banking firm in London. A set of graduates are all vying for permanent positions at the firm while simultaneously balancing the pressures of work/life balance with sex, drugs, romance, and heartbreak. Viewers enter the world through the eyes of graduate Harper Stern, a New York native and outsider played by Myha’la Herrold (Modern Love, Premature). The rest of “The Graduates” include Marisa Abela’s (Cobra, Five Dates) Yasmin, Nabhaan Rizwan (Informer, The Accident) as Hari, David Jonsson’s (Deep State, Gen Y) Gus, and Harry Lawtey (City of Tiny Lights, Wizards vs. Aliens) as Robert. The main cast is rounded out by senior employees, or “Management,” played by Ken Leung (The Sopranos, Marvel’s Inhumans), Will Tudor (Game of Thrones, Humans), Freya Mavor (The Lady in the Car with Glasses and Gun, Sunshine on Leith), and Conor MacNeill (The Fall, No Offence).
According to Deadline, the creators wrote the series with Sam H. Freeman (Femme) and Kate Verghese (Casualty, The Spanish Princess). Additional executive producers include BBC’s Ben Irving (His Dark Materials, Paddington 2) and David P. Davis (Electric Dreams, Merlin), Ryan Rasmussen (A Discovery of Witches, Davinci’s Demons), Lachlan MacKinnon (Burton and Taylor, The White Princess), and Jan Tranter (Torchwood, Succession). Ed Lilly (VS., Greasy Spoon) serves as co-executive producer with Lee Thomas (The Last Tree, The Murders at White House Farm) also producing. The pilot episode entitled “Induction” was directed by Lena Dunham (Girls, Generation). Other episodes were helmed by Lilly, Tinge Krishnan (Groove on a Stanley Knife, Junkhearts), and Mary Nighy (Marie Antoinette, Into the Night).
According to Deadline, episodes air Monday evening at 10 p.m. ET through December 21 in which the final two episodes will air back-to-back. All eight episodes are available to stream on HBO Max.
