Disney+ and Marvel’s Hawkeye series is giving flight to a spinoff series before it has even premiered. Via Deadline, Echo, a show based on Maya Lopez, a deaf Native American superhero, is in the early stages of development at Disney+.

Echo is a recurring character in the Marvel comics, and her abilities lie in the fact that she can perfectly mimic any opponents fighting style, via Deadline. In addition to her relation to Hawkeye, Echo has previously been apart of Avengers and Moon Knight comics, but she has been primarily seen as supporting character in Daredevil comic book story lines, according to Yahoo.

Most notably, Echo started the Ronan persona that Clint Barton takes over for a time, via Yahoo. The persona was seen at the beginning of Avengers: Endgame when, following Thanos’ snap, all of the Barton family is dusted, causing Clint to take on the Ronan persona as a means of vengeance.

According to Deadline, the spinoff series is in development with Etan Cohen (writer, Men in Black 3) and Emily Cohen (director, Fruits of Labor) who are both attached as writers and executive producers for the series.

Hawkeye is currently expected to debut sometime later this year on Disney+. Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) is returning as Clint Barton/Hawkeye and Hailee Steinfeld (Dickinson) will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Hawkeye’s protégé, Kate Bishop. Maya Lopez/Echo will be played by newcomer Alaqua Cox and it is assumed that she will reprise her role if Echo goes into production.

According to Deadline, Florence Pugh (Little Women) will reprise her yet-to-be seen Black Widow role as Yelena Belova. The series will additionally feature Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air) as Kate’s mom, Fra Fee (Les Misérables) as Kazi, the villainous clown, and Zahn McClarnon (Doctor Sleep) as Maya Lopez/Echo’s dad, William Lopez.
