Deadline reports that British actor Harry Treadaway (City of Ember, Deceit) will join Amazon MGM Studios’ upcoming thriller series Bishop from co-creators Tony Saltzman (Sacred Lies, Dexter: Resurrection) and Little Marvin (The Time Is Now, Them).
Treadaway will be playing the role of Wyatt, via Deadline, whose details are still under wraps at this time. He joins previously announced cast members John Malkovich (In the Line of Fire, Empire of the Sun), Jennifer Jason Leigh (Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Weeds), Joel Kinnaman (For All Mankind, Suicide Squad), and Jordana Brewster (The Invisible Circus, Lethal Weapon).
Deadline listed that Marvin serves as showrunner for the series and is credited as executive producer besides Saltzman, Roy Lee (Weapons, The Long Walk), and Miri Yoon (Don’t Worry Darling, The Mother) of Vertigo Entertainment. Felicia Fasano (Better Things, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) is credited as casting director. The project is the product of his overall deal at Amazon MGM and is his second pilot script/series order under them, following his two-season run with the network’s horror series Them.
As revealed by Deadline, Bishop will follow brilliant and battle-scarred homicide detective Bishop Graves (Kinnaman) through his hunt for an elusive San Francisco serial killer targeting the city’s high-power rich class. As all of his skills are tested, and as the investigation brings a devoted following to the killer’s work, Bishop grows convinced that everything is tied to the city’s most powerful man – his own father, Lincoln Graves (Malkovich).
Treadaway is best known for his television work after his 20 years so far in the industry. His recent credits, listed by Deadline, include Victor Frankenstein in Showtime’s Penny Dreadful; Roddy Llewelyn in Netflix’s The Crown; Narek in Star Trek: Picard; Brady Hartsfield in Mr. Mercedes, and lead Dr. Hunter in Paramount+ psychological thriller Chemistry of Death. The English actor also has stage work under his belt, with a recent role starring in The Grapes of Wrath at the National Theatre in London.
mxdwn previously reported on his role in Mr. Mercedes, of which original source novel author Stephen King (IT, Doctor Sleep) was featured in a behind-the-scenes video with Treadaway and his fellow cast members.
Up next for him in film, per Deadline, is Susanna White’s (Andor, Generation Kill) upcoming drama Prima Facie, based on the one-woman play of the same name by Suzie Miller (Inter Alia, The Mathematics of Longing). Treadaway is repped by Sequel Management and Principal Entertainment.
