After a long and complicated journey, House of Cards’ final season is on its way. Deadline reported this week that Netflix dropped the first teaser trailer for its acclaimed political drama over its Twitter account late Sunday night.
The brief teaser features Robin Wright’s Claire Underwood sitting behind the President’s desk in the Oval Office. She rises from her chair, looks straight in the camera, and says, “We’re just getting started.”

Of course, it wasn’t always clear if House of Cards would even have a final sixth season. While House of Cards was once Netflix’s crown jewel, Kevin Spacey’s sexual assault scandal cast a large shadow over the series. House of Cards was unable to fully recuperate as a result.
Netflix decided that House of Cards’ sixth season would be its last in October following Spacey’s scandal. Spacey was booted from his role on the series soon after, and Netflix announced that Robin Wright and her character Claire Underwood would be taking the actor’s place as the show’s lead.
House of Cards was subsequently put on a production hiatus. But the series resumed production over the winter, and the Netflix series was finally put back on track.
Joining Robin Wright for season 6 will be Michael Kelly, Diane Lane, Greg Kinnear, Patricia Clarkson, Derek Cecil, and Boris McGiver.
According to the newest teaser, House of Cards season 6 will premiere on Netflix some time this fall.
