Hacker Claims To Have Stolen ‘Orange Is The New Black’ Season Five, Demands Ransom From Netflix

Better keep an extra tight lock on season 2 of Stranger Things, because someone is claiming to have hacked past Netflix security.

Deadline reports that a hacker using the moniker The Dark Lord claims to have stolen the upcoming fifth season of Netflix’s original series Orange Is The New Black, which is set to premiere on June 9th. The Dark Lord claims to have uploaded the first episode of the season to an illegal file-sharing site, though this has yet to be confirmed. The hacker is reportedly demanding payment to keep the rest of the season off the internet.

The hacker sent a ransom note, in which they also claim they have stolen series from other studios thanks to breaching a single company. In the note the hacker threatens to release the series online if not paid “modest” ransom amounts.

“We are aware of the situation,” Netflix said in a statement. “A production vendor used by several major TV studios had its security compromised and the appropriate law enforcement authorities are involved.” Netflix said it is an “active situation” and that the FBI is helping investigate along with others.

Orange Is The New Black‘s fifth season is going to occur over the course of three days and take place in real time. Season 4 ended on quite a shake-up with the death of a beloved character that sparked a Litchfield Penitentiary riot. The Emmy and SAG Award-winning series was created by Jenji Kohan, and stars  Taylor Schilling, Michael Harney, Kate Mulgrew, Uzo Aduba, Danielle Brooks, Dascha Polanco, Selenis Leyva, Nick Sandow, Yael Stone and Lea DeLaria.
