‘Grey’s Anatomy’ is Catching Up to ‘Suits’ on Nielsen Streaming Charts

According to Deadline, USA Network legal drama Suits has spent another week at number one of the Nielsen streaming charts. It received 1.43 billion minutes viewed on both Peacock and Netflix in the week of September 25 to October 1.

However, this viewership is down 20% from the week before and the series has been steadily declining in viewership over September, which Deadline suggests could mean the audience is finishing their binge. The series was made available on Netflix in June, which means general audiences seem to have made their way through the first eight seasons in about three months.

Suits debuted on USA on June 23, 2011 and stars Gabriel Macht (Because I Said So, Beverly Hills, 90210) as Harvey Specter, Patrick J. Adams (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Right Stuff) as Michael Ross, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex (Horrible Bosses, Remember Me) as Rachel Zane.

Just behind Suits on the list is ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy at second place with 958 million minutes viewed on Netflix. Deadline reports that Grey’s Anatomy is often on the Nielsen streaming charts, but it does not typically receive viewership this high. Season 19 of the series was released on Netflix in June.

Grey’s Anatomy first aired on ABC on March 27, 2005 and stars Ellen Pompeo (Station 19, Catch Me If You Can) as Meredith Grey, Sandra Oh (The Princess Diaries, Killing Eve) as Cristina Yang, and Patrick Dempsey (Enchanted, Bridget Jones’s Baby) as Derek Shepherd.

Number three on the Nielsen streaming charts is Love Is Blind, which garnered 943 million minutes viewed Netflix. Number four is Elemantal, with 862 million minutes viewed and number five is Bluey with 794 million minutes viewed, both on Disney+. Reptile is number six with 740 million minutes viewed, Sex Education is number seven with 734 million minutes viewed, and Virgin River is number eight with 709 million minutes viewed, all on Netflix. NCIS is number nine on the list with 673 million minutes viewed across Netflix and Paramount+ and S.W.A.T. is number ten with 617 million minutes viewed across Hulu, Netflix, and Paramount+.

Prime Video’s Gen V entered Nielsen’s streaming originals list at number eight with 374 million viewing minutes for only three episodes.
