Four out of the five interns on the current season of Grey’s Anatomy have been given regular roles for the next season, as reported by E! News.
Actors to return to Grey’s include Camilla Luddington, Gaius Charles, Jerrika Hinton and Tessa Ferrer. Tina Majorino will not be re-appearing on the medical drama’s tenth season, as she will be starring in the drama series Legends, which will air on TNT. Earlier this week her role in the upcoming Veronica Mars movie was announced by creator Rob Thomas and also reported by E! News.
Grey’s interns play significant roles in the series and will continue to do so next season. The Hollywood Reporter stated, “Luddington portrays Jo, Alex’s (Justin Chambers) new love interest; Charles is Shane, the suck-up wannabe new Dr. Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), Hinton plays Stephanie, the romantic foil for Jackson (Jesse Williams) and Ferrer is Leah, who nearly lost her job after Bailey’s (Chandra Wilson) costly error.”
Yahoo! TV reported there was speculation about the return of these interns as series regulars as early as last December. “ABC added series regular options to their contracts. While the legal move didn’t guarantee the actors would be made series regulars in Season 10, it at the very least suggested Shonda Rhimes was considering such a possibility.”
Grey’s Anatomy will return to ABC this fall and will remain in it’s prime-time slot at 9 PM on Thursday nights.
