The Netflix series Grace and Frankie is full of surprises, as it unexpectedly dropped the first four episodes of season seven on the streamer on Friday. There to announce the joyous news on social media were the women of the hour and stars of the series, Jane Fonda (Book Club) and Lily Tomlin (Grandma), via Entertainment Weekly.
Netflix shared a video on Twitter early on Friday morning, with Fonda and Tomlin on the set of Grace and Frankie. Currently filming the seventh and final season of the series, Tomlin remarked with a smile on her face, “We missed you! But more importantly, you’ve missed us.” She went on to exclaim, “The first four episodes of season seven are out now!” Fonda then piggy backed off Tomlin, saying: “But don’t worry, there’s still plenty more to come. We just wanted wanted to give you something special, until we finish the rest of the season.”

Alongside Fonda and Tomlin, the series stars Martin Sheen (Judas and the Black Messiah), Sam Waterson (Godless), Brooklyn Decker (Just Go with it), June Diane Raphaell (Blockers), Ethan Embry (Sneaky Pete), Baron Vaugnn (The Great Debate), and Peter Gallager (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist).
Grace and Frankie tells the story of enemies turned best friends, Grace, portrayed by Fonda, and Frankie, portrayed by Tomlin. They bond after their husbands, played by Sheen and Waterson, reveal that they have fallen in love with each other, and then leave their respective wives to start a new life together. Grace and Frankie become roommates, and go on many wild escapades and hardships while re-learning how to be single.
The final twelve episodes of season seven will follow sometime in 2022, but for now, the first four episodes are just what the doctor ordered.
