FOX has ordered pilot for Gone Baby Gone from Robert Levine (Black Sails, Touch, Human Target, and Judging Amy). The potential show is a best-selling novel by Dennis Lehane which was published in 1998. The featured film, which was based on the book, was released in 2007. As of right now, the title for the television show has no title. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was a months long deal making process for FOX.
Levine will pen the script and also be an executive producer for the show along with the writer Lehane. The show itself is expected to be an hour long drama per episode. It is about two detectives named Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro. Both are “armed with their wits, their street knowledge and an undeniable chemistry.” Their job is to right the wrongs the law cannot. The setting for the show is in the working-class Boston borough of Dorchester. The film that was shown in 2007 made a gross of $34.6 million worldwide. Also, co-star Amy Ryan earned an Oscar nomination as a best supporting actress.
This becomes the fifth pilot order for FOX’s 2018-2019 season. With the show being co-produced by Miramax Television (as well as 20th Century FOX) this is the first from an outside producer. Gone Baby Gone joins the list of film to television adaptations.
