Golden Globes 2024 Added Jo Koy As Host For The Event

The role of hosting the most well-known award of the year, The Golden Globes, has been given to Jo Koy (Easter Sunday, Leo) for the 2024 ceremony, The Hollywood Reporter states. This will be the first time hosting an award show for Koy.

The Golden Globes president, Helen Hoehne, is ecstatic for Koy to host these awards, in an exclusive statement shared with The Hollywood Reporter. “We are thrilled to have Jo host the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards and bring his infectious energy and relatable humor to kick off Hollywood’s award season,” Hoehne said. “We can’t wait to see what he has in store for the stars in the room and a global audience. We know Jo is bringing his A-game.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Koy shared an exciting statement: “I’ve stepped onto a lot of stages around the world in my career, but this one is going to be extra special. I’m so excited to be hosting the Golden Globes this year,” Koy said. “This is that moment where I get to make my Filipino family proud. Mahal Kita.”

Barbie and the final season of HBO’s Succession are tied for the lead in the number of nominations, which included nine consecutively. Other great shows and movies are nominated, including Elemental, Wish, Guardians of The Galaxy Vol.3, Wonka’s Timothee Chalamet (Dune, Little Women) for Best Actor, Oppenheimer, and so many others.

The awards have been moved to CBS after running on NBC for long time, nearly three decades. The reason is that the network ended its long-time relationship with the Globes due to various controversies, including the conduct of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which is the organization behind the award event itself.

The Golden Globes will be shown on CBS on Jan. 7, and streamed on Paramount+ also for users who don’t have cable.
