Girl Meets World is getting a new opening credits sequence for season three, but it might look a little familiar.
For fans of the original Boy Meets World, you will be happy to discover that Girl Meets World has made a new intro for season three, and it has drawn a lot of inspiration from its “father” series. The opening song, “Take On the World,” performed by series stars Rowan Blanchard and Sabrina Carpenter, remains the same, but the scenes filmed on the street look like they came straight from Boy Meets World.
The obvious homage to the hit series from the 1990s might have something to do with Ben Savage, who played main character Cory Matthews in Boy Meets World, directing the new opening credits for Girl Meets World.
Boy Meets World aired during the 90s and has become a classic to the kids who grew up with Cory (Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel). When Girl Meets World premiered, the series already had an audience composed of loyal Boy Meets World fans. Fans of Girl Meets World who also grew up watching Boy Meets World will enjoy the nod to the series that defined their childhoods.

Some of the moments in the new Girl Meets World intro are almost perfect recreations of the iconic Boy Meets World intro. The popcorn vandalism, stair dancing, and water pranks are the same. Basically, it’s the same intro with new music and better video quality (and different actors, obviously).
The new intro was released just in time to promote the two-part Girl Meets World season premiere which hits the small screen on June 3 on the Disney Channel. The Disney Channel renewed Girl Meets World for a third season back in November. In Girl Meets World season three, Riley (Blanchard) and best-friend Maya (Carpenter) will be leaving middle-school behind and heading to the scary and difficult world of high school.
Season one and two of Girl Meets World are currently available to stream on Netflix.
