According to Deadline, Gina Carano has made a legal case against the Walt Disney Company over the company allegedly deep-siding her from The Mandelorian. Carano, a former MMA star, posted about the allegations on social media. Walt Disney is currently trying to get the lawsuit dismissed.
Deadline said that Carano posted on her social media, “Disney has confirmed what has been known all along, they will fire you if you say anything they disagree with, even if they have to MISREPRESENT, MALIGN, and MISCHARACTERIZE you to do it.”
She continued, said Deadline, claiming, “They are now on record letting everyone who works for them know that Disney will take any chance they get to control what you say, what you think or they will attempt to destroy your career. Glad we cleared that up.”
Disney, however, claimed that Carano allegedly “trivialized the Holocaust” in social media posts. Deadline stated that Carano has since been trying to debunk this claim. The company said that this combined with other reasons allowed them to terminate Carano within the rights of the First Amendment.
However, Deadline reported that Carano believed this is untrue, with her claiming, “The First Amendment does not allow Disney to wantonly DISCRIMINATE, which is what they have done in my case and frankly have now admitted they did. If you ever wanted to know what today’s ‘Disney values’ are, they just told you.”
Lucasfilm also weighed in, Deadline claimed, stating, “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
Deadline also said that while the lawsuit is being fought, Carano has teamed up with The Daily Wire and Breitbart News to appear in films such as Terror on the Prairie and My Son Hunter.
