Season four of the renowned video game-based Netflix series,The Witcher has just released a first look, and Geralt will receive a new face. Liam Hemsworth (Independence Day: Resurgence) takes over the role from Henry Cavill (Enola Holmes), who portrayed the gruff Witcher for the first three seasons. The plot of the season remains a mystery, but it will surely take place after the events of the third season, with the trio being split up. It ends with Ciri being transported to a different realm and captured by traders. However, she escapes with the help of The Rats.
According to Screenrant, the video opens with a moody atmosphere, showcasing a swampy landscape shrouded in mist. The video shows Geralt and Roach walking through the landscape, but then the camera pans backward, and Hemsworth is seen slowly looking behind him potentially to fight against a new creature. The brief teaser doesn’t offer much in terms of plot, but it focuses heavily on establishing Hemsworth in the iconic character.
According to Screenrant, despite the continuous comparison between Cavil and Hemsworth, Geralt still has his iconic white hair and stoic demeanor. It is currently unknown if returning cast members such as Freya Allan (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) as Ciri, Anya Chalotra (Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas) as Yennifer and Joey Batey (Knightfall) as Jaskier will be included in the new season.
According to Screenrant, Netflix has not stated an official release date for the approaching season, as there has been no confirmation about a 2024 release. Beyond the news of season four, filming for this season is reportedly happening back-to-back with season five, which will serve as the show’s finale. While fans eagerly await Hemsworth’s take on the gruff monster hunter, the previous seasons are available to stream now on Netflix.
