The moment that people have been anxiously and nervously been waiting for has come. In April 2019, the world will watch the final and eighth season of Game of Thrones where our foes and allies will battle it out by putting everything on the line. There is no official date for the premiere in April.
Game of Thrones’ Twitter account allowed us a little preview to what we could expect from season eight.
Ever since the season seven finale last year, fans have been giving some pretty creative theories to how the show could possibly end. There are multiple ways to how things could play out.
Filming the last season was emotional for the cast who had developed a strong bond with one another throughout the series. Sophie Turner who plays Sansa Stark was overwhelmed by the whole process but hopes that the show will live up to its potential. “A lot of tears. I think, you know, as an actor it was really satisfying — I think for everyone, everyone’s storylines — to be able to act out the way that it all ends. It was really satisfying for us,” Turner said. “Who knows if it will be satisfying for the fans. I think a lot of fans will be disappointed and a lot of fans will be over the moon, I think. I think it will be really interesting to see people’s reactions, but for me reading the script it was just like heartbreaking to read at the very final page of the script it just says, ‘End of Game of Thrones’. That was really emotional.”
Kit Harington could feel just how intense the final season would be with the way they were filming, but he completely understood the grueling workload. “It’s relentless; scenes that would have been a one-day shoot five years ago are now a five-day shoot,” Harington told EW. “They want to get it right, they want to shoot everything every single way so they have options.”
Winter will arrive in April 2019.
