In a tweet on February 10th a new synopsis of the Pokemon series in 2023 revealing the new protagonists names and their Pokemon pals including a splash art of the new characters, “The new series will be a new dream and adventure set in the entire Pokémon world, where Liko and Roy will go on adventures with many Pokémon, including Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly.”
According to ComicBook, the new Pokemon series will take place in the Paldea region, the ninth generation of Pocket Monster taking inspiration from Spanish dialect, language, and culture. The new anime with a brand new set of Pokemon trainers and their adventures is set to initially launch on April 14th, 2023.
Ash and Pikachu’s journey in the last series, Pokemon: Master Series, left a natural ending after Ash rises the ranks of the World Coronation Series Battles, and eventually built his team up enough to beat current leader Leon in an epic battle and became the World Champion of Pokemon Battles, a goal the ten-year-old boy had been chasing for multiple decades. Ash will have one more special series to wrap up loose ends like saying goodbye to friends and loyal Pokemon, figuring out his next journey, and how he will pass the torch to the next protagonists. The farewell season has yet to debut outside its country of origin, but its episodes in Japan have already done plenty to wrap Ash’s decades-long storyline with Pikachu.
