‘General Hospital’ Actor Johnny Wactor Murdered At 37 After Attempted Theft

Johnny Wactor (USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage, Dead Talk Tales, Army Wives), known for his role in the daytime soap General Hospital, tragically passed away at the age of 37. According to Deadline and law enforcement sources, Wactor was shot during an attempted theft early Saturday morning. 

Three suspects, attempting to steal the catalytic converter from Wactor’s vehicle, confronted the actor when he intervened. During the altercation, Wactor was shot. The suspects then fled the scene, leaving Wactor critically injured. He was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. 

The suspects are still at large, and an investigation is ongoing. As reported by Deadline, Wactor’s mother confirmed to TMZ the devastating news of her son’s death. Johnny Wactor joined General Hospital in 2020, portraying Brando Corbin, a character who became a fan favorite. His character had a significant arc, including marrying Sasha, as portrayed by Sofia Mattsson (Long Lost Daughter, Becoming Bond, Gothic Harvest), and ultimately meeting a tragic end on the show.

According to Deadline, beyond General Hospital, Wactor had a diverse career in television. His credits included appearances in Army Wives, Siberia, Agent X, Vantastic, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Girl, Training Day, Criminal Minds and many more. 

As mentioned by Deadline, tributes poured in from colleagues and fans alike. Mattsson, his on-screen partner in General Hospital, shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, accompanied by photos from the show. “My heart is so utterly broken… Johnny was the absolute best,” Mattsson wrote. “So genuine. So caring. Incredibly hard-working and humble. With a huge heart that spread so much kindness and joy. He always made sure everyone around him felt seen, heard and loved. I admire the man he was so much and I’m a better person for having known him.” Mattsson continued, “We shared so many special moments, both on and off screen, and I will forever cherish them deeply in my heart. You will be so incredibly missed Johnny… I’m sure you’re already busy taking care of everyone up there.”

Also mentioned by Deadline, the official Instagram account for General Hospital also shared a poignant statement. “The entire General Hospital family is heartbroken to hear of Johnny Wactor’s untimely passing,” they continued. “He was truly one of a kind and a pleasure to work with each and every day. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones during this difficult time.” 

As fans and colleagues mourn the loss of a talented and beloved actor, Johnny Wactor’s legacy in the entertainment industry remains profound. His work continues to resonate with audiences, and his kindness and dedication will be remembered by all who knew him.
