Telltale Games is teaming up with HBO to bring a new Game of Thrones video game for 2014.
According to The Verge, Telltale Games is the studio behind the award winning The Walking Dead video game. The studio is working with HBO on the game series. The game will resemble the TV show more than George R. R. Martin’s original A Song of Ice and Fire books. The game will be an episodic series.
“We’ll be taking advantage of all the fiction to make something great,” said Dan Connors Telltale CEO, at the VGX 2013 awards show. “We’re just really getting into it right now and thinking about characters — who has the most at stake, who has the biggest impact on the world.”
Telltale also confirmed the Game of Thrones video game on their twitter account.
“It’s TRUE! We’re working with @HBO to create an all-new episodic game series based on GAME OF THRONES in 2014!”
This will not be the first Game of Thrones video game released. An action RPG (Role Playing Games) was released last year and another free-to-play MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online Game) is in the works. However, Telltale Games has a proven formula of interactive and character-driven story telling.
