Game Of Thrones To Become First TV Series Shown In IMAX Theatres.

On January 6, HBO announced that for one anticipated week beginning January 23, the HBO hit Game of Thrones with be shown in select IMAX theaters nationwide.

Two episodes from season four  that have been digitally re-mastered to fit the image and sound quality of the immersive IMAX experience will show in more than 150 top IMAX theaters nationwide from January 23 through January 29. The two episodes, which are rumored to be season four’s episodes nine and ten, will be followed by the worldwide debut of a sneak peak trailer for season 5.

Game of Thrones in IMAX will make HBO the first television network to feature its programming in IMAX theaters. “The cinematic brilliance and grand scope of the series is perfect for the IMAX format,” said Pamela Levine, chief marketing officer at HBO.  “We are always looking to provide fans with new and exciting ways to experience the show and viewing two key episodes, along with the new trailer, on such an impressive platform makes for a great event.”

In coming days, fans can log onto www.imax.com  for screening information and to purchase tickets. The IMAX website is currently experiencing difficulty due to high traffic volume following the HBO press release.
