The highly acclaimed sci-fi series Doctor Who is nearing the finale of its fifteenth season, with showrunner Russel T. Davies (The Giggle) giving Whovians a glimpse of what to expect. According to Screenrant, the upcoming episode “Wish World” will be dubbed, which follows the events from the previous one in where The Doctor, played by Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education, Barbie), and Belinda, played by Varada Sethu (Andor, Annika) had discovered that the Earth was destroyed on March 24th, 2025.
This was not the only surprise, as fans saw the return of Rani, a bi-generated character played by Archie Panjabi (San Andreas, Departure) and Anita Dobson (Generation Z, Curfew), who seemed to be behind the Earth’s disappearance. According to Screenrant, it was revealed that Rani has reality-warping abilities and uses it to transport the planet to a new reality.
Panjabi and Dobson have been rumored to join the Unholy Trinity alongside Conrad Clark, a character portrayed by Jonah Hauer-King (The Little Mermaid,William Tell). In an interview with Screenrant, Davies mentioned that the upcoming story will not only explore the Doctor’s previously unexplored past but will also redefine their origin and the events that have shaped their identity.
Davies tells Screenrant,”It takes some very unexpected turns… There are big surprises, from the Doctor and for the Doctor. Some of it shakes up the lore of Gallifrey. Some of it re-contextualises the Doctor, the Rani, and their relationship. Elements from [season 14 premiere] The Church on Ruby Road are even paid off. It’s rewarding for long-term fans but exciting for new viewers as well.”
According to Screenrant, we know that the finale will be divided into two parts. The first part is set to be released on May 24, and the second part will be released on May 31. While we wait for the finale, all current episodes of Doctor Who are available to stream on Disney+.
