FX’s ‘American Crime Story: Impeachment’ Delays Production Due to COVID-19

The upcoming installment of FX’s American Crime Story, entitled Impeachment, has had to delay its on-going production due to positive COVID-19 tests on set, according to Variety. The set of the third season of the FX original series shut down due to a section of the production crew producing positive tests within the cast and crew. Currently, it is unknown the length of the production shut down for the series, but is aiming to resume in January 2021.

American Crime Story comes from the mind of Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story) and is an anthology series that premiered for FX in 2016 centering on fictionalized presentations of real-life scandals and crimes. The first season followed the Trail of O.J. Simpson in 2016 and the second installment was titled The Assassination of Gianni Versace. The current third season will center on the scandal with President Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky.

American Crime Story: Impeachment will base its story on the book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Story of the Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down A President by Jeffrey Toobin. The series cast will feature the frequent Murphy collaborator in Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story) as Linda Tripp. Additional cast members will include Annaleigh Ashford (Masters of Sex) as Paula Jones, Margo Martindale (The Americans, Justified) as Lucianne Goldberg, Anthony Green (The Bourne Identity) as Al Gore, Billy Eichner (Billy on the Street) as Matt Drudge, Betty Gilpin (GLOW) as Ann Coulter, Beanie Feldstein (Booksmart) as Lewinsky, and Clive Owen (Children of Men) as President Clinton.

Currently, it is unknown when the third season of Murphy’s American Crime Story is set to premiere on the FX network.
