FX gave a pilot order to the animated action comedy Cassius & Clay
Megan Ganz (Modern Family, Community) and Adam Reed (Archer creator) will write the pilot that is described as being in the same vein as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Ganz and Reed along with Matt Thompson will executive produce the series that comes from FX Productions and Floyd County Productions.
Cassius & Clay follows two female bandits living in a futuristic post-apocalyptic America. Kaitlin Olson (It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia) will voice Ordwood Cassius “a hard-drinking, quick-thinking, fast-talking bullshitter who has more debts than sense.” Lake Bell (Childrens Hospital) will voice the other lead Shopcarter Clay, “the fastest gun in the post-apocalyptic South who doesn’t go looking for trouble but shares station wagon with it,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Susan Sarandon will play Connie Mack the cutthroat owner of the only saloon and brothel in town who basically runs the town as well. If the series moves forward Sarandon, Olson, and Bell would be series regulars.
Other voices include JB Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm) who will voice the town’s only doctor Doc Benz, Kevin Michael Richardson (Guardians Of The Galaxy) will voice the town’s blacksmith Smiffy, and Jeffrey Tambor (Transparent) will voice the powerless mayor Waitstill Weeks. Stephen Root, Katy Mixon, and Robert Patrick are also signed on to voice characters in the pilot, according to Deadline.
