Following the success of the Percy Jackson series, Disney is further expanding its Rick Riordan (The Heroes of Olympus, The Trials of Apollo) franchise with plans to adapt another of the author’s beloved mythological trilogies. According to Screenrant, the next series in question is Kane Chronicles, in which the plot follows the journey of two siblings separated, Carter and Sadie, who discovered that they are the descendants of Egyptian pharaohs, and must rescue their farther, who was kidnapped. Along the way, they both become host to the Egyptian gods Horus and Isis, to help in their mission and to defeat the evil forces.

Reported by Screenrant, the Percy Jackson series had done an outstanding job of truly capturing the enticing narrative straight out of the book, and the viewership have surpassed the film version. The season two finale have placed Percy Jackson as on of the most watched Disney+ series with almost perfect score of 95% with critics’ and 82% with audience.

In the beginning, Kan Chronicles was supposed to be turn into a film with Netflix, but the ideas was quickly scrapped after numerous years in development limbo. Stated by Screenrant, expanding Riordan’s work seems to be the next logical next step because this gives a chance to introduce a whole new generation to the author’s other projects. The books within the trilogy the new series will be folowing are Red Pyramid, Throne of Fire, and The Serpent’s Shadow. 

This new series has the potential of creating a crossover with its Olympus counterpart with one example being that Carter and Sadie’s journey wil crossover with Percy, played by Walker Scobell (The Adam Project, Secret Headquarters) and his friends with dealing an evil gods set on destroying the world.

While awaiting on further information on the new mythology series, fans can rewatch the previous season of Percy Jackson with the third season set to release on November 20 on Disney+.
