The release date for the adult animated fantasy-adventure series, The Legend of Vox Machina, was revealed today at virtual New York Comic Con. Amazon Prime Video is slated to launch the series on February 4, 2022 and provided a live read of a scene from the pilot episode by the cast of Critical Role.
The Legend of Vox Machina follows Vox Machina, a group of friends who spend most of their time boozing and brawling. According to New York Comic Con, “In a desperate attempt to pay off their mounting bar tab, these unlikely heroes end up on a quest to save the realm of Exandria from dark magical forces. From a sinister necromancer to a powerful curse, the group confronts a variety of obstacles that not only test their skills, but also the strength of their bond.”
The 2-minute live read presented by the cast of The Legend of Vox Machina shows the characters drunk in a bar, until they’re interrupted by a fight that soon escalates from a drunken anger to a violent brawl.
Critical Role, launched in 2019, is a story-driven media company created by voice actors and consists of their creations of epic stories. The Legend of Vox Machina stars Critical Role founders and cast members, Laura Bailey (The Last of Us: Part II), Taliesin Jaffe (Final Fantasy XIV), Ashley Johnson (The Last of Us), Liam O’Brien (Star Wars: The Bad Batch), Matthew Mercer (Overwatch), Marisha Ray (Final Fantasy XV), Sam Riegel (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and Travis Willingham (Marvel’s Avengers).
Critical Role is slated to initiate its third Dungeons & Dragons campaign on October 21 with an episode that will premiere on Twitch and YouTube. The title sequence for The Legend of Vox Machina was also released at New York Comic Con, which can be watched below.
