Fox has decided to greenlight The Flintstones spinoff series Bedrock. Fox has disclosed the voice actors responsible for the cast, as reported exclusively by Deadline.
Elizabeth Banks (Shaft, The Lego Movie) has been managing the project as the executive producer and will also be leading the voice cast as Pebbles, the now adult daughter of Fred and Wilma Flintstone.
“The Flintstones are the first family of primetime animation,” declared Executive Vice President of Alternate Programming at Warner Bros. Animation Peter Girardi. “This is going to rock (sorry).”
“Long before the Simpsons and Springfield, the Griffins and Quahog or even when the Belchers started serving burgers on Ocean Avenue, there were the Flintstones and Bedrock,” President of Entertainment at FOX Entertainment Michael Thorn said when the series was first announced in 2021.
According to PopCulture, Bedrock is set to occur 20 years after the original series.
Bedrock is an adult primetime animated comedy spinoff series that continues the story of the Stone Age family. As reported by Deadline, Bedrock follows the Flintstone family after a gap of two decades, with Fred nearing retirement and his daughter Pebbles, now in her 20s, venturing into her career. The inhabitants of Bedrock will find it challenging to adapt to the transition from the Stone Age to the new and advanced Bronze Age, which will be more difficult than a swing from Bamm-Bamm’s club.
The cast also includes Stephen Root (Office Space, Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story) portraying Fred, Amy Sedaris (Elf, Puss in Boots) portraying Wilma, Joe Lo Truglio (Superbad, Role Models) portraying Barney Rubble, Nicole Byer (The Bob’s Burgers Movie, Tuca & Bertie) portraying Betty Rubble, and Manny Jacinto (Nine Perfect Strangers, The Good Place) portraying Bamm-Bamm Rubble.
The streaming service Boomerang, which is also an extension of the cable network of the same name, currently hosts The Flintstones, Flintstone Frolics, The Flintstone Kids, The New Fred and Barney Show, Cave Kids, and The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show.
