Deadline has reported that season three is in the works for popular Fox series The Cleaning Lady. Jeannine Renshaw, who worked on In The Dark, Manifest, and Good Girls, will also join the show as an executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Miranda Kwok (The 100, Spartacus).
Michael Thorn, President of Scripted Programming of Fox Entertainment, said of the renewal: “After two heart-pounding seasons, we’re thrilled with how audiences have latched on to this incredible story. The cast, led by the incomparable Élodie Yung, along with our brilliant creative team and our partners at Warner Bros. Television have expertly crafted a highly compelling, emotionally-driven show that gives a perspective you don’t often see on television.”
According to IMDB, the series follows a whip-smart Cambodian doctor who comes to the U.S. for a medical treatment to save her son, but must use her cunning and intelligence to fight back when the system fails and pushes her into hiding, breaking the law for all the right reasons. French-Cambodian actress Élodie Yung (Gods of Egypt, The Hitman’s Bodyguard) stars as Thony, the doctor-turned-cleaning-lady who must work for the mob to stay alive.
The series is based on the original Argentine series called La Chica que Limpia, which aired in 2017. Kwok is responsible for the U.S. adaptation that premiered in January 2022. Since then, a second season, which added Emmy nominee Naveen Andrews (Planet Terror, Lost) to the cast, was released in September 2022.
Other cast members include Adan Canto (Designated Survivor, X-Men: Days of Future Past) as Arman, Eva Dominici (Hawaii Five-0, The Fragility of Bodies) as Nadia, Oliver Hudson (Black Christmas, Walk of Shame) as Garrett, and Martha Milan (The OA, Succession) as Fiona. Newcomers Sean Lew and Faith Bryant portray Chris and Jaz. Young actors Sebastian and Valentino LaSalle play Luca, Thony’s son.
The Cleaning Lady seasons one and two are currently streaming on Fox. Season one is available on HBO Max and Hulu.
