Rob Lowe will return to broadcast television on Fox’s new pilot called The Grinder.
The new comedy pilot will be directed by Jake Kasdan and produced by Nicholas Stoller (Sex Tape).
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lowe will not only be starring in The Grinder, but also executive producing. Rob Lowe is popularly known for his role on Parks and Recreation on NBC.
The new 20th Century Fox Television comedy pilot will center around Lowe’s character. Lowe portrays a beloved TV lawyer named Dean Sanderson, also known as the Grinder. Sanderson finds himself at a crossroads in his life when his long-running hit series comes to an end. The lawyer decides to move back to his small hometown with confidence that he has the experience to take over his family’s law firm.
Writing the script and executive producing will be Jarrad Paul (Yes Man, Lair Liar) and Andrew Mogel.
Rob Lowe is a five-time Golden Globe nominee and his TV credits include NBC’s The West Wing and HBO’s TV movie Behind the Candelabra. He’s currently in production in London on Working Title TV and Big Balls Films’ Apocalypse Slough . These projects will air stateside on NBC and will be seen this Christmas in Paramount’s Monster Trucks. He’s also returning for the final season of Parks and Recreation.
For Fox, this new project will be the network’s eighth comedy pilot of this season.
Lowe is represented by WME, Brillstein and O’Melveny & Myers. Paul and Mogel, who most recently wrote and directed the Sundance competition entry The D Train, are with UTA, Mosaic and Ziffren. Kasdan is with WME.
