According to Deadline, Fox’s Alert: Missing Persons Unit and The Cleaning Lady have been cancelled as the shows just wrapped up their third and fourth seasons, respectively. Fox reportedly delayed their final decision on the series, opting to wait until their latest seasons were finished.
Alert: Missing Persons Unit wrapped up its third season on May 27, 2025, followed shortly thereafter by The Cleaning Lady, which wrapped up its fourth season on June 3, 2025. According to Deadline, these cancellations don’t come as a massive surprise as both shows occupied the bottom rung of Fox’s 2024-25 season rankings.
In addition, Fox animated comedy series The Great North is also expected to be cancelled following the conclusion of its fifth season, according to Deadline. Anthology series Accused, created by Howard Gordon (24, Homeland), may receive a limited run event, according to Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn.
Thorn stated via Deadline, “We love the show and Howard Gordon. As you know, it’s anthological, which means it doesn’t have the same timetable on renewals as shows that have locked casts. And so right now, we’re talking with Howard if there’s an opportunity down the line to eventize a return, something that can really work for us and Howard, we’d love to do it. Right now, there’s no plan, but there could be down the line.”
According to Deadline, Fox explored the possibility of reworking Alert: Missing Persons Unit as Scott Caan (Ocean’s Eleven, Varsity Blues) was a popular leading man amongst Fox brass, but the ratings were ultimately the show’s downfall. Alert: Missing Persons Unit follows the story of the Philadelphia Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit headed by detectives Jason Grant, played by Caan, and Nikki Batista, played by Dania Ramirez (X-Men: The Last Stand, Premium Rush), who work together to rescue missing or abducted persons.
The Cleaning Lady, the first broadcast drama to be helmed by a Southeast Asian woman, follows the story of Thony De La Rosa, played by Élodie Yung (Daredevil, The Hitman’s Body Guard), a Cambodian-Filipino surgeon who gets involved with a criminal organization in order to support her family. The show was reworked after the tragic passing of lead actor Adan Canto (Designated Survivor, Narcos). According to Deadline, the show has a dedicated fan base who will unfortunately be left with loose ends and unanswered questions following the conclusion of the fourth and final season.
