Deadline has reported that four actors have been cast to lead the new upcoming Netflix series Clickbait, which focuses on social media and how it helps shape the lives and choices of four individuals. The new show will be featuring cast of Zoe Kazan, Adrian Grenier, Betty Gabriel and Phoenix Raei as the leads. Tony Ayres and Christian White will be cowriting the series. Though the exact premise of the show is still enshrouded in mystery, Deadline has helped release character descriptions as well as the actors who will be playing said characters. Kazan will be Pia Brewer, a woman who’s searching for her missing brother. Gabriel is Sophie Brewer, an Oakland woman trying to keep her family together in the midst of a media story that Brewer and her family are a part of. Grenier is playing the role of Nick Brewer, whose life becomes derailed after being involved in a bizarre crime. Finally, Raei will play Roshan Amir, a detective of the Oakland Police Department.
Ayres, whose credits include creating the TV series The Snap, will be producing the series through his production company Tony Ayres Productions. Along with Christian White, Ayres has assembled an experienced and talented team to help develop Clickbait. Brad Anderson, who’s worked on The Sinner, will be the lead director of this show. Emma Freeman, who worked on Glitch and Stateless, will be second block director. Producer David Heyman, who produced Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Gravity, I Am Legend and Harry Potter, also had a hand in developing Clickbait as executive producer. Other executive producers include Tom Winchester who worked on The Capture, Tom Hoffie who executive produced Wanted and Love Child, and Joanna Werner who produced Secret City. Clickbait will be the first Netflix original series that will be made in Victoria.
