Russell Tovey has joined the cast of the HBO pilot Looking, via the Hollywood Reporter.
The half-hour dramedy follows a group of gay men throughout their lives in San Francisco. Starring Jonathan Groff, Frankie J. Alvarez, Murray Bartlett and Scott Bakula, the series focuses on their search for “love and good times” in the California city.
Tovey is slated to play Kevin, “an accomplished video game wunderkind who has achieved financial and critical success at a young age.” He will frequently interact with Groff’s lead character, Patrick.
An experienced television actor, Tovey has appeared in a number of UK series, including Being Human, Doctor Who and Sherlock. He can next be seen in the upcoming film “Blackwood”.
The eight-episode first season of Looking will begin filming in San Francisco within the next month.
