CBS has announced a new two-hour crossover event between Fire Country and Sheriff Country, which will feature a prison break, windstorm and major fire. According to ScreenRant, the crossover will air November 6 beginning at 8 p.m. on CBS.
The event will begin with Sheriff Country Season 2, Episode 5, titled “No Way In.” The episode follows Sheriff Mickey Fox as she responds to a hostage crisis after a prison break. Fire Country stars Max Thieriot (The Pacifier, Jumper, Chloe), Kevin Alejandro (Arrow, Southland, True Blood) and Jules Latimer (Rustin, Guilty Party) will guest star as Bode, Manny and Eve.
The story will continue into Fire Country Season 5, Episode 5, titled “No Way Out.” Following the prison break, Mickey turns to the Station 42 firefighters for help protecting Edgewater as a manhunt gets underway. Sheriff Country stars Morena Baccarin (Deadpool, Elevation, Serenity), Matt Lauria (Friday Night Lights, Parenthood, Kingdom), Michele Weaver (Council of Dads, A Season to Remember, Beverly H.), Amanda Arcuri (Fingernails, Party of Five, Do Not Reply) and Ian Quinlan (Gotham, Sneaky Pete, City Hall) will appear as guest stars.
Sheriff Country showrunner and executive producer Matt Lopez (Race to Witch Mountain, Father of the Bride, Bedtime Stories) described the crossover as a largely standalone adventure while noting that it will still acknowledge ongoing storylines from both shows. The two episodes are designed to tell one continuous story, transitioning directly from Sheriff Country into Fire Country.
The crossover will center heavily on Mickey and Manny as the sheriff’s office and Station 42 attempt to manage several emergencies simultaneously. Along with escaped prisoners, the characters will face a major windstorm and fire that forces the two departments to share resources. Lopez also teased personal stakes for the characters and described the event as a “roller coaster.”
The production is also increasing the scale of the action for the crossover. Lopez revealed that the episodes will include practical explosions rather than relying entirely on CGI, with the Fire Country portion filmed in Vancouver.
The event follows the shows’ previous crossover, which aired in April and centered on Bode and Boone working together to rescue children who had been kidnapped from a bus. Lopez said the positive response to that event helped lead to another crossover, this time earlier in the season.
Before the crossover, Ben McKenzie (Gotham, The O.C., I Want You Back) will guest star in the Sheriff Country Season 2 premiere as Wade, a sheriff from a neighboring town who arrives in Edgewater to assist Mickey with a case while hiding secrets of his own. McKenzie previously starred alongside Baccarin on Gotham and is her real-life husband.
Sheriff Country Season 2 and Fire Country Season 5 will premiere October 9 at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m., respectively, on CBS.
