Final ‘Jeopardy!’ Episodes With Alex Trebek To Air In January

Following his death in NovemberJeopardy! host Alex Trebek (White Men Can’t Jump) is slated to be featured in set of five episodes from January 4 to January 8, as Variety reports. The upcoming episodes were filmed in October.

The first episode will surround a message for the significance of the giving during the holiday season. The final episode will include a tribute to Trebek as a longtime host of the iconic series. The show will continue after this set of episodes with guest host Ken Jennings (The Chase), known as the highest-earning American game show contestant of all time. He will begin hosting on January 11.

Following the announcement that Jennings would replace Trebek, past tweets resurfaced which Jennings has referred to as “unartful and insensitive things.” He tweeted a thread of apologies where he begins with, “In the past, I’d usually leave bad tweets up just so they could be dunked on….Deleting them felt like whitewashing a mistake,” as CNN reports.

 

In March of 2019, Trebek announced his battle with stage-four pancreatic cancer yet continued hosting until October 29, when he had appeared in 8,200 episodes over 37 seasons of Jeopardy!, breaking records for hosting the most episodes in a game show.
