The late Treat Williams (Everwood) has been honored by the series Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans with a touching tribute. According to Deadline, the series dedicated the latest episode to the actor, who also was a part of the cast. Williams passed away in June 2023 after a fatal motorcycle accident. He was 71.
According to Deadline, in the latest episode of the series, they paid tribute by displaying title card reading “In Memory of Treat Williams 1951-2023”. Williams had a titular role in the series, portraying the media tycoon Bill Paley. His character and the series were both a part of the adaptation of the book Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era by Laurence Leamer. Deadline describes the plotline as a story circling the “literary scandal that sparked a fallout between writer Truman Capote and a high-society group of women, known as his “Swans.”
Series co-creator Ryan Murphy (Glee, American Horror Story) recalled his final conversation with the late actor. According to People Magazine, Williams was very proud of the work he had done. “The last thing he said to me was, he grabbed my face and said, ‘I loved every minute,’” said Murphy to People.
As the star of not only Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans, Williams also played a vast amount of roles such as his most popular, Dr. Andy Brown on the series Everwood. This role not only was his most recognizable but also brought him two SAG Award nominations. Along with this, he also starred in movies such as Deadly Hero, The Ritz, and The Eagle Has Landed. But, his massive breakout role was in the rock musical Hair, the film based on the Broadway musical of the same title. Portraying the role of George Berger, this film earned him a Golden Globe nomination. Other works in musicals include his work both on Broadway and Off-Broadway in the productions of Follies, Love Letters, and the 1981 production of The Pirates of Penzance.
