Deadline shared the news of a new edition added to the FBI franchise being greenlit. The series FBI: CIA will go straight to a series without a pilot episode airing first. The franchise first started in 2018 with the mothership series FBI. Given the show’s success, the series expanded with its second show FBI: Most Wanted, and a third series FBI: International. Both shows will continue to run till the end of may. The fourth show added to the franchise and will feature the CIA. With a working title fans get excited for the spinoff FBI: CIA.
Despite the successes, the two shows recently announced their cancelation. However, producers are eager to continue the stories with the spinoff. The show remains in the works as casting and timelines have not been released yet. Fans speculate whether their beloved characters will be returning to the screen.
The series pair gained it’s success for the plot of the shows. FBI: Most Wanted highlighted a unit within the FBI that chases criminals on the most wanted list. Some notable cast members were Dylan McDermott (Olympus Has Fallen) starring as Remy Scott and Roxy Sternberg (Emerald City) starring as Sheryll Barnes. FBI: International follows another special unit this time, the group investigates terrorism all over the world. Some cast members were Jesse Lee Soffer (Chicago P.D.) starring as Wesley Mitchell, and Luke Kleintank (Crown Vic) starring as Scott Forester.
Fans are excited to see the same crew return for the production of the new show. Such as showrunners David Hudgins (Friday Night Lights), Nicole Perlman (Guardians Of The Galaxy), and David Chasteenell (Back In Action). The group will also serve as executive producers. Universal Television and CBS Studios will be producing as well.
The series proposal was to follow an FBI agent who teams up with a CIA agent to create a task force that focuses on preventing domestic terrorism in New York City. With casting still in the works, the series previously teased three new characters. Fans highly anticipate updates for the franchise.
