“Your wish is her shift-command,” executive producer Rob Thomas joked by way of introducing an exciting piece of news Wednesday: Tina Majorino will be reprising her role as Cindy “Mac” Mackenzie in the Veronica Mars movie.
Thomas first shared the news via an email to the film’s Kickstarter contributors, explaining that the role of Mac was written “for Tina, and Tina only. Veronica needed a female friend, and a Q to her Bond. Tina felt like just the sort of girl that Veronica would like and respect.”
A fan favorite, Majorino’s return has been greeted with enthusiasm by the film’s backers. Thomas shared the same sentiment: “I couldn’t be more pleased that she’ll be with us for the movie.”
Majorino is the most recent addition to the Veronica Mars film, joining returning cast members Percy Daggs III, Chris Lowell, Francis Capra, Daran Norris, Amanda Noret and Sam Huntington. Thomas promised casting news every day of this week, and thus far, his announcements have not disappointed. Fans of the series are eagerly looking forward to news of who will return next.
