Ewan McGregor (Doctor Sleep) is hopeful to continue his role as Obi-Wan on the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, according to ComicBook. Although it was one-season limited series, McGregor hopes there will be a second season. McGregor has been not only the face but also the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi since his start in George Lucas’ (Willow), Star Wars prequel trilogy. The new series gave more of an opportunity to tell the story of the character that McGregor had envisioned
According to ComicBook, McGregor states on Disney Studios Awards virtual website, ‘’I was so happy to do it again, and so happy to work with Hayden again. I hope we get the chance to do it again.”
He goes on to say, “In the old days, I would joke about, ‘There must be a good story to tell between Episode III and VI.’ But, it’s true. I always felt that there was, I feel like series director Deborah Chow found it and absolutely nailed it … just found the story that we wanted to see between the last one that we did and first that was done in 1977.’’
McGregor also added that the series “adds to our knowledge of the characters, and it’s satisfying … for the fans.”
The limited series of Obi-wan Kenobi aired on Disney+ on May 27 2022 and consisted of six episodes. Other than McGregor the series stars Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit), Vivien Lyra Blair (Bird Box), Hayden Christensen (Jumper), Sung Kang (Fast Five), James Earl Jones (The Lion King), Kumail Nanjiani (Welcome to Chippendales), O’Shea Jackson Jr (Swagger), and many others.
Although Star Wars fans will have to wait and see if there will be another season of Obi-Wan Kenobi, many can keep up with their Star Wars lore with a variety of different series to stream on Disney+. Series such as The Bad Batch, Andor, and The Mandalorian. As well as many series already in the works like Ahsoka, and The Acolyte
