According to Deadline, a star on the HBO show Euphoria by the name of Nika King announced that due to delays with season three, she has been struggling to pay rent. King alleges that she hasn’t been able to pay rent in six months. The actress plays Leslie Bennett, mother of Rue Bennett.
Bennett spoke on the issue during a standup comedy show, said Deadline. She claimed, “Season 3 is coming out… I don’t f***ing know. Don’t ask me. I don’t know. It’s one of those things, people are like, ‘We need Season 3.’ I’m like, ‘Bitch, I need Season 3. I haven’t paid my rent in six months.”
Deadline said that she continued, saying, “Yall laughing, and I’m serious. I thought my career was on the rise after Euphoria. I thought I was good. It don’t work that way. I called Taraji and she was like, ‘Bitch, get used to it.’”
There are three major causes for the season three delays, said Deadline. The primary reason comes from scheduling conflicts, with the other two reasons being the Hollywood strikes and Sam Levinson, the show creator, being busy with HBO’s The Idol. As of now, there is no production date in place.
Colman Domingo highlighted the reasons for delays, such as Levinson’s tendency to rewrite, said Deadline. He went on to say, “[Sam is] a person who writes and rewrites and writes and rewrites again, because I think he’s wrestling with what’s important. He’s responding immediately to what the ills of the world are. I know that the one thing I can tell you is that he’s very much interested in the existential question of who we are right now. Our souls. That’s what he wants to figure out with season three.”
Deadline also reported that as of August 2023, Levinson has said that the third season will have Rue “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world.”
