Sharon Stone (Casino, Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese), who will be joining the cast of the third season of Euphoria, recently told audiences that she supported Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy, The Last Ship) amidst the casting process for the HBO series. In a brief interview with Entertainment Tonight, she did not discuss her role or any details about her involvement in Euphoria. However, in the video below, she did discuss her close friendship with Eric Dane and his ALS diagnosis.
According to the Mayo Clinic, “Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis…is a nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS causes loss of muscle control. The disease gets worse over time.”
“Eric and I have been friends for a long time. A long time,” Stone said in the video. “And I actually was like his support staff when he was trying to get the job on Euphoria. So he would come over to my house and give me gluten-free cookies, and we’d sit and discuss it because he really wanted that job.”
According to an interview from Good Morning America via Deadline, Dane said about his ALS diagnosis, “I’m fighting as much as I can. There’s so much about it that’s out of my control.” He continued, “In my heart, I just don’t feel like this is the end of me.”
The HBO series Euphoria follows a teenage drug addict named Rue and the events surrounding her and her friends’ lives. Rue is played by Zendaya (Challengers, Dune). Meanwhile, Dane himself plays the role of Cal Jacobs, a closeted bisexual father of a son, Nate. Nate is played by Australian actor Jacob Elordi (Saltburn, The Kissing Booth).
HBO anticipates to air Euphoria‘s third season sometime in 2026, according to an article on mxdwn.
